Global Market Series: NAFTA/FTA Certificate Program

This 2-day series covers the main steps in claiming benefits under the North American Free Trade Agreement and other free trade agreements (NAFTA/FTA) with a strong emphasis on compliance and targets toward new or active importers/exporters, managers in the fields of compliance, logistics and purchasing, as well as those wanting to enter into an international business related field. The series is offered strictly live via webinar. Participants who complete the entire series and all series requirements will receive a certificate from the North America’s Corridor Coalition. ALL registrations must be received by Thursday, November 1st at midnight central time. ALL credit cards will begin being processed one week before the seminar begins (Wednesday, October 31st). Participants will receive links to series materials by Monday, November 5th. •We reserve the right to adjust seminar schedule as necessary. • Must complete the entire series for certification.

Day 1 Session 1: Introduction to Free Trade Agreements November 13 • Understand the purpose of FTAs and their advantages and requirements. • Learn about worldwide regional trade agreements that can affect your international business.
Day 1 Session 2: Leveraging FTAs to Your Advantage November 13 • Compare the similarities, differences, requirements and benefits of each of the current FTAs.
Day 1 Session 3: NAFTA 101 and Rules of Origin November 13 • Determine the requirements of claiming NAFTA status including classification of your product with the HTS schedule, rules of origin, certificate of origin, marking, and recordkeeping.
Day 2 Session 4: NAFTA Requirements: Canada November 14 • Identify the aspects of NAFTA specific to Canada and the common errors and red flags in audits. • Learn key strategies for avoiding penalties.
Day 2 Session 5: NAFTA Requirements: Mexico November 14 • Identify the aspects of NAFTA specific to Mexico. • Understand Mexican customs procedures. • Learn the marking and labeling rules in Mexico • Explore the benefits and requirements of IMMEX Article 303 regarding maquiladoras • Learn recordkeeping requirements for Mexico.
Day 2 Session 6: How to Complete a NAFTA Certificate of Origin November 14 • Follow this step-by-step method to learn how to correctly complete the NAFTA certificate of origin and avoid the most common mistakes. • Become familiar with other FTA required documentation.
