Global Market Series: Export Certificate Program

This 11-part series covers the main steps in the export process with a strong emphasis on compliance and is geared toward new or active exporters, managers in the fields of compliance, logistics and purchasing, as well as those wanting to enter into an international business related field. To accommodate participants in and outside of the DFW area, the series is offered in person at the BJP Institute or live via webinar. Participants who complete the entire series and all series requirements will receive a certificate from the U.S. Department of Commerce. ALL registrations must be received by Thursday, October 4th at midnight central time. ALL credit cards will begin being processed one week before the seminar begins (Tuesday, October 2nd). Participants will receive links to series materials by Friday, October 5th. •We reserve the right to adjust seminar schedule as necessary. • Must complete the entire series for certification.

Day 1 Session 1: Market Resources and Analysis October 9 • Overview of the export process from a small business perspective • Introduction to U.S. government agencies that offer services to exporters • Learn a proven step-by-step process to explore and define market potential • Determine your Schedule B number
Day 1 Session 2: Finding and Keeping Your Global Customers October 9 • Discover successful methods of choosing global distribution partners. • Identify ways to manage your global sales activities.
Day 2 Session 3: Legal Issues: Intellectual Property and Contracts October 16 • Learn the three most widely used legal formats for distribution and sales contracts. • Understand the time restrictions and legal requirements to protect your intellectual property.
Day 2 Session 4: Understanding Transportation and Logistics October 16 • Learn the different modes of international freight • Choosing a customs broker and/or freight forwarder in the export process • INCOTERMS • Essential documents in an export transaction.
Day 2 Session 5: Regulatory Compliance October 16 • Determine which government agencies regulate exports • Decide if an export license is required for your product • Learn export recordkeeping requirements• BIS • AES filing.
Day 3 Session 6: Advanced Regulatory Compliance Ocotber 23 • Expand on previous information to learn the complexities of advanced classification • B.I.S. classification & filing.
Day 3 Session 7: Foreign Regulatory Compliance October 23 • Gain in-depth knowledge concerning foreign regulatory compliance and non U.S. regulations and compulsory marks.
Day 3 Session 8: Automated Export System Training October 23 • Training in completing mandatory electronic filing.
Day 4 Session 9: International Payment Procedures October 30 • Learn the most common payment mechanisms • Become familiar with the benefits of using Letters of Credit.
Day 4 Session 10: International Finance October 30 • Identify S.B.A. and Ex-Im Bank export finance assistance opportunities.
Day 4 Session 11: Managing Cross-Cultural Communications October 30 • Explore how different cultural behaviors and negotiation tactics can impact your business transactions • Export Process Summary.
