2010 Goals / 1Q Performance

Counseling Goals
  1Q 2010  2010
Extended Engagement Clients  33  148
 Long-Term Clients  18   80

For a bit of explanation, Extended Engagement Clients are those clients whom we've seen since, October 2005, who have counseled at least once in 2009/2010 and have 5 hours or more of counseling.

Long-Term Clients are those who have received 5 hours or more of counseling in 2009/2010 only.

At first blush, it may seem like these are one and the same, but they are actually a bit different. For example, say that ABC company has been a client of ours since 2007 and during that time, they accumulated 4 hours of counseling and we didn't see them again until October 2009. This would be an example of an Extended Engagement Client.

On the other hand, a Long-Term Client would be XYZ company that became a client in November 2009 and has already received 5 hours of counseling.

What's with the 5 hour benchmark you ask? Well, that gets dictated to us directly by SBA. They believe that businesses who recieve 5 hours or more of counseling are in the best position to deliver economic impact goals of jobs created, export sales, etc.

As for our performance, I would say we're doing well on the Long-Term Client goals, the extended engagement clients need a bit more of work obviously. Additionally, the Oct-Dec quarter is traditionally our slowest with holidays and year-end slow down.

So that's it. I'll post again next quarter and we can compare.
